Because of its location, the Centre is known locally as the Beaubourg. It is named after Georges Pompidou, the President of France from 1969 to 1974 who decided its creation, and was officially opened on 31 January 1977 by President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. Built in 1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris[10] and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair. --- La tour Eiffel est une tour de fer puddlé de 324 mètres de hauteur située à Paris, à l'extrémité nord-ouest du parc du Champ-de-Mars, en bordure de la Seine. Erected between 1561 and 1565 to the design of Cornelis Floris de Vriendt and several other architects and artists, this Renaissance building incorporates both Flemish and Italian influences. --- L' Hôtel de ville d'Anvers est situé sur la Grand-Place d'Anvers en Belgique. Le bâtiment de style Renaissance a été dessiné par l'architecte Cornelis Floris De Vriendt et fut construit entre 1561 et 1564.

Longer wavelengths than this are called infrared (below red), and cannot be seen by the naked eye. Red is used as one of the additive primary colors of light, complementary to cyan, in RGB color systems. Red is also one of the subtractive primary colors of RYB color space but not CMYK color space.
